Miss Piggy: Kermit, I want to apologise for the way I acted tonight.Ol buzzard beak was driving me crazy.
Gonzo: You drive me crazy for you, Miss Piggy.
Miss Piggy: You know something, nasty nose,I'm gonna send you on a one way trip to the geek farm.
Gonzo: Send me.
Miss Piggy: (knocks Gonzo into the orchestra pit) Pig power.
Kermit: Well, the course of true love never runs smooth.
This episode marked the last time several Muppets would appear as major characters. The wardrobe lady, Hilda would disappear completely after the end of the season. Wayne and Wanda's career as a singing team also ended in this episode, though they would appear for one episode in a later season. George and Mildred would be relegated to background characters during the second season, though they would appear in the theme opening for the show for the life of the series.
This episode was taped from 11/24-26/1976.
"When I'm Not Near the Girl I Love" adapted from the E.Y. Yarburg and Burton Lane song is the UK spot. It's from the musical Finian's Rainbow.
Debut: Gonzo's love affair with Miss Piggy.
This is the first appearance of Gonzo's trademark; him rapidly rushing on camera with a WHOOSH sound effect.
Fozzie's joke: Thirty days has September, April, June, and my cousin Fred who gets out on Wednesday.
Gonzo's gong: Gonzo fires a gun at the "O".
Final performance of John Lovelady and Eren Ozker.
"Mr. Bassman" was written by Johnny H. Cymbal.
"It's Only a Paper Moon" was written by Harold Arlen and Billy Rose.
