The Naked Mind

Show Summary

The Naked Mind is a series of four thirty-minute shows, which were originally broadcast as an hour-long show on CBC in 1973. The series features accomplished actors performing scenes from well-known plays. The excerpts are chosen to help the Naked Mind's commentators and viewers delve into the psychology behind emotional disturbances. Select excerpts from Anne of Green Gables, My Fair Lady, Johnny Belinda, and the Devil's Discipline are among the performances included in the series. Actors established in some of Canada's most prestigious theater groups, including the New Brunswick Players, the Neptune Theater, the Stratford and Shaw Festivals, and the Charlottetown Festival, take on the roles in these performances. Lorraine Thomson hosts. She is joined by a psychologist or sociologist plus four guest panelists in each episode, who provide commentary on mental health in relation to what is being portrayed in the famous plays. Comedian Henry Morgan is a regular member of the panel.
