This show was actually shot between "Going Mein Way" and "The Unsinkable Nora Wilde." It was an intended New Year's episode that eventually aired, I think, sometime in June (only on the West Coast). We kept joking that we should dub in the appropriate holiday in a bad voiceover every time they said "Happy New Year."
According to Executive Producer Michael Saltzman,
It was later rescheduled to air on March 23, 1998, even though "The Neighbor of Bath" had already been broadcast.
Scheduled to air on January 5, 1998. The series was yanked off the schedule indefinitely when NBC jiggered their ailing Monday lineup and attempted to slot Jenny in the vacated space. A brilliant move, since Jenny lasted just five weeks on Monday before getting cancelled, and The Naked Truth was back and filling in for it at the end of January -- disregarding the three other times it got pulled off the schedule within a four-month period. Of course, since this was a New Year's Day-themed episode, there wasn't a whole lot of point in airing it, and so NBC skipped it. NBC did not skip "The Neighbor of Bath," however -- and since it continues a storyline begun here, it must have made tons of sense to viewers watching the series before it was rescued from NBC's abuse by USA.
