This might be the best-ever episode of "The Name Of The Game"; certainly, its quiet, unfussy analysis of deep-seated prejudice, so ingrained hardly anyone notices it, is deeply impressive. There are no big speeches about how terrible it is that Little Bear has been killed, no-one tries to filibuster about racism and there is little violence or action. But, bit by bit, we learn that even the more intelligent members of this New Mexico community, such as the old Senator, have acquiesced to the old attitudes for so long that they really can't see the injustice that goes with the terrible poverty. Robert Culp, as the visiting "People" journalist, never makes any self-righteous comments and never loses his temper, but he peels away all the deceit and the unfairness and shows the truth without it ever needing to be articulated for us. In its quiet way, the episode is quite devastating.moreless
