Unquestionably, this episode about America's ongoing drug problems is over-earnest and presents a simplified statement of the issues; but it's done well enough to qualify as one of the better segments of this uneven series. Julie Harris's guest role as the quiet, even rather dowdy drug counsellor who is an ex-addict herself rightly dominates the proceedings and Laurie Prange, still in her teens, makes an impressive TV debut as the ill-fated girl from a standard middle-class home who doesn't win her struggle. The notion that an overly-consumerist America might even insidiously create the conditions for drug dependency is not examined, but the idea is briefly floated.moreless
