    Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

    FILTER BY TYPE

    • TRIVIA (2)

      • Brighton and his father play chess and the game ends in check mate. There are only four pieces (two black and two white) on the chess board located in the center of the board. There's no way to make a check mate with so few pieces in that location.

      • In the episode Frannie's Choice (#121), Fran was getting married to her old boyfriend Danny, and the children got sad and angry because they knew Fran was going to leave them. In this episode Fran tells the kids that Dr. Kimble asked her to marry him, and they don't seem to mind at all. Actually they seem to be happy about it, and Maggie even asks if she can be a bridesmaid.

    • QUOTES (14)

      • Yetta: (to Sylvia about Fran, while they're collectively at a therapy session) Don't nag the kid all the time. She should get married when she wants to, not just 'cause she got knocked up by the seltzer man like I... (hesitantly, when she sees that everyone is looking at her with shocked faces) ...like I heard people do.

      • Maxwell: Miss Fine, I don't want to say I told you so, but I never trusted the man. You know, I can spot a con-artist a mile off.
Fran: Ha. This from a man who paid me time and a half to work on Hebrew National Day.

      • Fran: Now, you know Jules, I'm a simple girl with simple tastes. I just want a simple ring. (Points to something in the display case) That's a nice little stone.
Sales Clerk: Madam, that's a crystal ashtray.

      • Maxwell: So, Jules, had I known you were going to the theater, I would have gotten you house seats!
        (Maxwell and Julius rapidly argue)
        Julius: I know the star.
        Maxwell: I know the producer.
        Julius: I know the director.
Maxwell: I know the theater owner.
        Julius: I talked to God!
Fran: Jules. Jules! Put that back in your pants! (Jules puts the theater tickets back in his pocket) I can't stand to see two grown men fight about who has the biggest connection!

      • Maxwell: Trust me, Miss Fine. If I found a woman that loved my children, could make me laugh and I found attractive, I'd never let her get away.
(His hand gets stuck in her hair)

Fran: Hang on a second, we're stuck on each other.

      • Yetta: That's right cookie, it's payback time.

      • Therapist: So ladies, what brings you to therapy?
Fran: I came 'cause my mother has an obsession with me getting married.
Sylvia: I came 'cause my daughter has a delusion that I have an obsession.
Yetta: I came because they brought me and I don't know to get home from here.

      • Sylvia: Where is she?! Where's my baby?! I rushed over as soon as they finished my hair!

      • Maxwell: C.C., do you believe in love at first sight.
C.C.: Yes! (Almost throwing herself over the desk) Why?
        Maxwell: Miss Fine...
        C.C.: No! Why?
        Maxwell: She met a gentleman.
C.C.: (Running towards Maxwell's chair) I mean, yes, yes... I'll still with yes.

      • Maxwell: Hurry up, Miss Fine. (In a sing-song voice) You're not getting any younger!
Fran: (Sing-song) I'm not the one that looks-like Lily Munster.

      • Fran: C.C., M.D. M&M's?

      • Maxwell: Check-mate!
Brighton: What? What happened to this board?
Fran: Don't leave two queens alone. They'll redecorate.

      • Sylvia: I have low blood sugar. The doctor prescribed donuts.
Fran: And who prescribed the ice cream floats? Dr. Pepper?

      • Detective: We've been looking for Julius Kimble for over 3 years.
Fran: Dr. Kimble is a fugitive? What are the odds?

    • NOTES (0)

    • ALLUSIONS (2)

      • The title Dope Diamond is a play on words referring to the Hope Diamond, a large, deep blue diamond legendary for the curse it supposedly puts on whoever possesses it.

      • Fran: Dr. Kimble is a fugitive? What are the odds?
Fran makes a reference to Richard Kimble, the main character of the famous 60's show The Fugitive.
