  • One of the pivotal stories to Maxwells love for Fran

    6.5
To me this episode really shows how much Mr. Sheffield loves Fran. He was able to put his trust in her to do the right thing. Luckily Fran was able to follow through with a great show, with the help of her cousin Toddy. But unfortunately while I still enjoyed it, it really wasn't one of the more memorable episodes. There didn't seem to be as much humour as normal. There wasn't really any events that stood out. But it's always interesting how Mr. Sheffield confides in Niles, about his feelings for Miss Fine, when Niles is the one who already knows, due to his constant eavesdropping.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (1)

    • When Fran asks Todd which famous person wore her dress before she did, Todd tells her that it was Wesley Snipes. This is most likely an allusion to the 1995 movie To Wong Foo Thanks For Everything, Julie Newmar, in which Wesley Snipes plays a drag queen. He never actually wears that particular dress in the movie.

  • QUOTES (5)

    • Maxwell: Have I let my judgment be impaired by my feelings for Ms. Fine?
Niles: What feelings are those, sir?
      Maxwell: Well, you know...
      Niles: No, I don't, sir.
      Maxwell: Oh, c'mon, Niles.
Niles: But you'd feel so much better if you just said it.
Maxwell: Perhaps you're right! Maybe I should just admit that...
      Fran: (enters) Knock-knock!
      Niles: Oh, wait!!

    • Maxwell: (Referring to the Gloss magazine) Niles, get this piece of trash out of here!
Niles: (To C.C.) You heard the man. Move it.

    • Maxwell: (talking to C.C. about hiring Fran for the Fashion Show) Look I'll admit it was a mistake hiring her, but I won't question my motivation. History is full of relationships between men and women that have nothing to do with sexual attraction. Like...
      C.C.: Uh-huh?
      Maxwell: Ummm...
      C.C.: Uh-huh.
      Maxwell: Um...
      C.C.: Uh-huh.
      Maxwell: Us!

    • C.C.: Maxwell, the entire Broadway community will be there and we'll have costumes by Oscar de la Yenta!

    • C.C.: The charity is very trendy! Valerie Bertinelli did the movie of the week. I didn't see it though, I had a date.
Niles: Well then, it was a big night for charity all around.

  • NOTES (2)

  • ALLUSIONS (2)

    • Niles: Hasta la vista, baby!

This is the famous line from the 1991 film, Terminator 2: Judgement Day.

    • C.C. mentions "Oscar de la Yenta". This is a play on the name of the famous fashion designer Oscar de la Renta, whose Latin-flavored work dominated and influenced the fashion world of the '70s.
