There is a certain degree of irony in Fran portraying "Alexis" in her fantasy. Earlier in the season, Joan Collins, who actually portrayed "Alexis" on Dynasty, appeared on the series as Mr. Sheffield's step-mother, "Joan Sheffield."

Fran's dream was a takeoff on Dynasty, with Fran dreaming of being Alexis. C.C. being Krystle and Maxwell being Blake. This is just one of the many references to Dynasty Fran makes on the show.
