      • Maxwell: Oh, Niles, where's Miss Fine?
Niles: She hasn't been out of her room all day. Poor thing's been going out of her mind, trying to decide who blabbed and sabotaged her dream. What's that?
        Maxwell: Soup.
        Niles: For whom?
        Maxwell: Miss Fine.
Niles: Where did you get it?
        Maxwell: I made it.
        Niles: You blabbed, didn't you?

      • Fran: Oh, talk about fate! I mean, if I hadn't washed off Margo Lange's mole, we never would've gone into business together, Mr. Sheffield never would've blabbed, and he never would've... He never would have...
        Niles: What?
Fran: Oh Niles, who am I kidding here? I don't want a proposal from a man out of guilt. Oh God, twelve generations of Fine women just rolled over. Oh, but that's no way for us to start our lives together.
Niles: I don't understand. Isn't this what you've been working for?
Fran: It is, isn't it? Oh, but I want him to ask me because he can't imagine his life without me, because he really means it. I kinda think I deserve that.
Niles: So, you're actually going to let him out of it?
Fran: Yeah, I am. (she and Niles hug) Oh boy, have I come a long way, huh?
        (Maxwell comes in)
Maxwell: There you are. Come on, Niles, why don't you crack open a bottle of champagne? Let's, let's celebrate!
Fran: Hmm? Oh, you mean that proposal out there? I didn't take that seriously. I just wanted to see you sweat.
        Maxwell: Wh-what?
Fran: (laughs) Oh, you should have seen the look on your face when I said yes! It's just about as good as the look on Ma's face when I tell her I said no!
        (The laughter dies down)
Fran: Uh, why don't we just forget the whole thing ever happened, huh? (she leaves)
Niles: Well, once again, you managed to get yourself out of it.
Maxwell: Yes, only... only this time, I'm... not quite sure I really wanted to.

      • (Anticipating the arrival of a famous actress)
C.C.: When she gets here, I don't want any screw-ups. (Starts sniffing)
        Maxwell: What are you doing?
C.C.: I'm sniffing for Alberto VO 5, Top Ramen, anything that reeks of Nanny Fine.

      • Fran: When you watch your mother fry up your Mr. Potato Head, it scars you.

      • Margo Lange: Excuse me, Mr. Sheffield, but your gardener is gawking at me!
(we see that the "gardener" outside Maxwell's office is really Fran, she is staring at Margo Lange with a big smile on her face)
Maxwell: Would you excuse me for a moment? (he goes outside on the terrace and starts shouting at Fran, C.C. runs out as well and Fran runs inside unnoticed with the garden hose while C.C. and Maxwell argue)
Fran: Oh, Miss Lange, I can't believe I'm meeting you in person! (C.C. and Maxwell run inside)
        Maxwell: MISS FINE!
(Startled, Fran starts spraying water everywhere, she then turns the hose off and tries wiping off Miss Lange's face)
Fran: Miss Lange! Your famous mole! Where is it? (looks in the napkin she's holding) Here it is!

      • Val: Fran, what you did is nothing compared to what you did to Elton John and Bette Middler.
Fran: And Cher, Elizabeth Taylor, Lambchop!

      • Sylvia: What are you digging for, Ma?
Yetta: I'm making sure I remembered my phone. Sammy's calling me from Florida, and I don't want to miss him!
(pulls a telephone out of her purse)
