  • The normal jokes from the show turn cruel.

    6.5
I love this show, but this episode just makes me mad every time I see it. The condensed version is: Fran gets a rash and after getting a shot to help her with the itching she bloats up. All on the night that Maxwell finally decides he's ready to get physical with her.

Normally this would be funny, especially since Fran and her mother always are joking about various weight issues that the two have had (or still have) over the years, instead the show takes a cruel turn after Fran appears "heavy" as a result of the shot.

Maxwell's reaction to "big" Fran is horrible, and although Fran makes a cute joke towards the end of the episode when the swelling hasn't completely gone down, it doesn't change the fact that the writers/producers of the show had a chance to take the high ground on this issue and blew it.

After 4 1/2 seasons of greatness, I guess even Fran Fine had to turn out an episode that was just okay.
  • Funny Episode.

This episode was incredibly funny. Fran finally gets a date with Mr. Sheffield and tragedy strikes when the unexpected happens, but in a funny way. Fran begins to feel very itchy and discovers that she has a weird, disgusting rash all over her body. This worries her since the moment that she had been waiting for, for so long was finally about to happen. Mr. Sheffield had finally agreed to have an intimate encounter with her. Fran loves Mr. Sheffield so much, so she immediately rushes down to the hospital where she has a rather unexperienced doctor. After recieving her shot, which was supposed to make her better, she swells up and the night she had been waiting for never got to happen. It is very comical and worth watching.
