This episode was extremely hilarious. It was so funny. I couldn't stop laughing when I first saw this episode. The scenes with Christine in church were really funny, and the part where Christine explains her name wasn't called at Confirmation was just too hilarious. Another funny part was where Christine runs out of the church to get a sub. The writers are very funny and talented. The show is hilarious. This episode is the reason I watch this show. It is a series classic. It is probably the best episode of the season, and one of the best episodes of the series. This episode is another perfect installment.moreless

  • This episode kept me laughing from throughout. Spoiler warning.

This series keeps impressing me week in and week out. I have enjoyed it since it's premiere, but it just keeps getting better and better as time goes on. At this point in season 2, this is the best episode to have aired so far. It is simply hilarious. After Richie goes to new Christine's church he expresses interest in going again with old Christine. She however had a bad experience at church when she was younger and now is against visiting church. When she finally decides to take Richie she ends up making a fool of herself at church. This is really a laugh riot! Julia-Louis Dreyfus is a wonderful comedic actress and really shines in this episode. Do not hesitate to watch this episode. You will not regret it.moreless
  • Old christine learns about old time religion!

    6.5
Old christine is going back to church as it takes a stance on Religion. christinbe went back just bacause his son went back and her husband went back too. Not many sitcon has done anything on religion and I glad that one sitcon has done somethiong. But a better TV show that comments on religion is "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" where one of the characters is a christian and issues concering christianity is discuss on the show. Old christine's adjustment to teligion is fine but I didn't learn too much about the subject. Next week, Old Christine will learn something else.moreless
  • This was definitely a series classic. After going to church with his dad and new Christine, Ritchie wants old Christine to take him to church. Christine is reminded of her past church experiences and is reluctent to go back to church.moreless

I loved this episode! Christine is finally broken down into going to church. It's been years since Christine has been to church and church made her feel awkward then, but now is no different. She still feels uncomfortable, and her insecurity makes for one hilarious episode. She makes a fool of herself countless times in front of the preacher... before she even enters the church. When she eventually makes it into the church, her lack of knowledge of the church causes her to be the last one singing or start preaching with the preacher. This is a "bust a gut" funny episode.moreless

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (2)

    • Caught praying, Richie pretends to have been playing his GameBoy Advance, and tells Christine he was playing Battlefront II. This would prove difficult, as that game has never been released for that system.

    • Christine continues to eat submarine sandwiches that she does not like in this episode. In the Seinfeld episode "The Strike", Elaine Benes also forces herself to eat subs that she does not like.

  • QUOTES (4)

    • Matthew: [Ritchie] kept asking me all these questions. Where is Heaven, do I believe in God, is Mommy going to hell?
Christine: Why does he think I'm going to hell?
Matthew: Maybe because you parked in the handicap space to do your Christmas shopping last year.

    • Christine: Richard, we talked about this and made the decision that Ritchie's spiritual guidance would be done at home, and not in a church!
Richard: Watching 7th Heaven doesn't count as a spiritual experience!
Christine: It does if you burn incense!

    • Matthew: (to Christine) Submarine sandwiches again? This is, like, three days in a row. What's going on? Hey, are you sleeping with the guy at Quizno's again?

    • Christine: I'm plenty spiritual without church.
      Matthew: How?
      Christine: I meditate.
      Matthew: When?
      Christine: In the tub.
Matthew: Well, that's not meditating, that's mast—
      Christine: Shut up!
