Julia does what she does best - try to act fearless while being humiliated by events and attitudes around her. She is in every scene, and carries the show well. Especially good is the part where the two 'mean moms' are insulting her with faint praise. Everyone can relate to that situation. Her son Richie is great in this one, having fun with New Christine while constantly contradicting his mom.
The problems are (1) Julia still looks and sounds like Elaine from 'Seinfeld', that we keep expecting other characters to step up and share the spotlight. And (2) New Christine is not that attractive, so the one big joke is dead in the water. She is 28, but I would take Elaine, make that Old Christine, over her any time.
