  • Great kick-off to the new season

    9.5
On the heels of last season's hook up between Richard and Christine, Richard has been spending a lot of time with Christine and Ritchie at their house, hanging out, doing house projects (building a laundry room). This has been great for everyone except Matthew who is feeling very threatened by Richard's presence. At school, we are introduced to Ritchie's new teacher (Blair Underwood), who all the mom's immediately fall in love with. We come to realize that Ritchie thinks his parents got back together. Richard and Christine try to really get back together, but there's no spark, so they agree to remain good friends.

As usual, the scenes at the school are hilarious, with the mom's fawning over the hot new teacher...

Marly: "Who knew that diversity could be so gorgeous. Is this your doing?"

Christine: "I wish I could take credit. But... God did that."

Lindsay: "Wow, I have to get back to church."

I also really liked Matthew's insecurity with his role as the "patriarch" in the family.

As amusing as it was to see them try to make things work, I'm really glad that Christine and Richard don't get back together. The dynamic between them is much more interesting as divorcees instead of as a couple.

All told, I thought this was a fantastic start to the new season. Very funny, good writing, good acting, good tempo, and a pleasure to watch.moreless
  • She realizes her son thinks she's gotten back together with her husband because he's hanging around a lot.

This show is so humanly funny, I just love it. Those two mothers at the school are so on the money it's painful, where did they find them? And all the supporting actors are incredibly right for their roles, it's so fun to watch a show this well written and this well cast. Good for Julia Louis Dreyfus for having broken the Seinfeld curse. She's probably the only one who could have done it, I always liked Elaine best.moreless
  • Since New Christine broke up with him, Richard has been spending a lot of time at Old Christine's house, causing Ritchie to think they are back together.

This episode was amazing. It was so funny. It was the perfect season opener. The funniest past was probably when Ritchie told his teacher, who Christine likes, that his parents are back together. It was so hilarious. The writers are very talented. They write very good scripts. The storylines are also very unique. I also liked the title of this episode, however, some Catholics may take it the wrong way, considering the title was taken from Mel Gibson's The Passion Of The Christ, in which Jesus suffered and was killed, and they are using it for comedy. Nevertheless, the show is still hilarious.moreless
