Tom Rettig reprises his role as Jeff Miller for the first time since leaving the original series in 1957. He portrays a computer scientist who runs an experiment on dogs and their mental abilities...and Will wants Lassie to prove her intelligence.
While Will is learning to fly a plane with the help of A.W. Leeds, a bird flies into the windshield and causes Will to lose control and crash, while Mr. Leeds loses his eye sight.
When Chris refuses a contractor's job to build a bar for one of Will's friends' parents, it causes Will to resent his father...especially since taking the job would have meant Will could attend baseball camp.
