The mystery on whether the show will be renewed for a second season has yet to be solved! Good news is, HBO has not given any official word on its cancellation. Bad news is, no word on its renewal yet either. Read here for more details. If you have more recent news on the show's fate, kindly post them in this thread. Thanks!

no news, but i was urged by my neighborhood dvd rental(not a corp owned)store to rent this..i am more of a sci-fi action mystery adventure watcher...but i took this home and noticed that #1 i was developing a cramp in my cheeks from the broad and constant smile and #2 how after all the dark blood and guts torture porn crap in the media, even on netwoek(criminal minds),that i was not jaded...i was really enjoying this great piece true entertaiment...i really hope it is picked up...we should have more of this...people would watch if it were easier to to find and was not just on premium tv...i have hbo and did not know of it...thanx to them for bringing it to us however...i'll keep my fingers crossed........

Jill Scott is a talented new mom. What I saw of her show in its first season was captivating and I'm looking forward to a second season. Still, I sense that even with the potentency for success that the show possesses there won't be enough inspiration or material to make the show long lasting. There's no limit to geographical input for the show and Jill certainly knows her way around at home and abroad so I'm really looking forward to seeing what is actually done with "The #1 Ladies Detective Agency."

I do not know the answer to this but I certainly hope this wonderful show will be renewed. The stories show a life of simplicity and yet so human - just a wonderful experence. Let's continue the story my husband and I are eager to go the journey and have fallen in love with all the characters.

The author keeps writing books in this series, which should give the show plenty of material to work with. This is a terrific show and very heartwarming and moving. It's also a window into a culture that's little known in the U.S. I do hope they bring this show back. This wonderful show deserves a wider audience.

Well ... in February we were told to expect season 2 in April and now its August. I just looked at the HBO web site and The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency is still listed as an ongoing series. Dose anyone have any more current information on when the show will return?

It's cancelled, but they might make some more movies based on the novels. What a shame! This was a terrific show.
