  • MILF!

Well, a drama filled episode and a lot of macking and sex involved. There's been a lot of these types of characters that have been solely used for the purpose of moving the plot forward, such as Donnie the last episode and Gabrielle this episode. You would wish the show could have given them more of a role instead of for single use only, but they did their job pretty well. The Marissa and Ryan relationship looking like it was going somewhere, and then Ryan listened to his dick and inconveniently, Marissa walked in when Ryan was macking it with Seth's mom. How Marissa reacted to the situation, sleeping with Luke, was very realistic, and although you'd like to see Ryan and Marissa together, it still shows how much she cares for him and that she's only doing it out of anger. Meanwhile Seth has put his foot in the long awaited door with Summer, which was pretty sweet to see, and it's been a while since an episode isn't concentrating so much on Jimmy Cooper's money debts. Great overall episode.moreless
  • Marissa, Mermaids and one Hot Grandma...

    8.3
Its Caleb Nichol's birthday today, which sends both Sandy and Kirsten freaking out in their own way.Gabrielle flirts with Ryan, while Marissa goes all the way with Luke. And Summer kisses Seth.

I like the way the character of Caleb was introduced. He was a good inclusion in this series.Every series needs a rich, powerful character to spice things up.I also enjoyed the conversations he had with Sandy and Kirsten.Sandy dislike for his father-in-law was typical, but Kirsten's reaction was more interesting. It also dropped some hints on the whole Nichol family .(Haley-Sister)

The situation between Marissa and Ryan is hazy at best, to me and the characters themselves.Marissa seems to have gotten back with Luke(who was eerily nice this episode),but she still has her doubts on whether it was the right move. Ryan, thinking he has lost her, finds Gabrielle(Caleb's Girlfriend) a useful distraction. She is also willing to oblige.Bottomline, Marissa catches them,so she has sex with Luke.

Marissa is a very complicated character. She is supposed to be potrayed as a poor, little rich girl.A girl brought in such luxury but has numerous problems plagueing her.She is insecure, confused and contrived. An interesting character if played well.(Mischa Barton seems to have the looks and enough acting ability)However, a character like this has to be played to her strengths, not her weaknesses. And in this episode, she gears towards annoying.Hope it can go back in the right direction.

Seth and Summer's first kiss was due to a mermaid poem.Summer gets herself invited to Caleb's party and uses Seth to get to know rich men.But she shows another side of herself when Seth let on the little details of her life.I think this is a good move.I could get use to Summer being the drunk, party girl 24/7 but I don't think that would be of much use to the show.Good chemistry, those two.

Other points of note,Ryan and Gabrielle leave on good terms,Julie has her eyes set on Caleb while Jimmy fails to move him with his gut-wrenching story.Pathetic.

All in all, a good episode to watch. More characters introduced and more things to look forward to.

  • Another awesome episode.

    9.3
Kirsten's father, Caleb Nichol, comes for a visit along with his new girlfriend, Gabrielle, a 24-year-old fashion model. Kirsten finds her job in jeopardy. To Ryan's disappointment, Luke decides he wants a second chance with Marissa, but she chooses Ryan. Ryan makes out with Gabrielle in the pool house, so Marissa lets Luke be her "first". Summer makes a move on Seth. I love d this episode, so much tension. It was so funyn to with Seth and Ryan and Caleb's new girlfriend. I loved this episode, I just did not want Marissa and Luke to you know..I wanted it to be Ryan but an awesome episode. Can't wait to watch more episode of The OC.moreless

  • TRIVIA (2)

    • Goof: The dress Marissa is wearing at the party, you can clearly see her back, back when she is with Luke at his house, she is wearing a bra. Unlikely that she keeps a spare bra in her bag.

    • Goof: When Caleb comes into the kitchen he raises his arms, and then the shot changes, his arms are still raised, but they're much lower than before.

  • QUOTES (15)

    • Seth: Okay, that's a lot of genitalia in my pool.

    • Seth: Is it twisted to find my potential grandma really hot?
Ryan: Not when she looks like that.

    • Caleb: You have a quick wit, Seth. Amazing you're not better at skirt-chasing.
Seth: If by 'skirts' you mean girls, in your outdated cowboy-speak, I have a little news for you. Turns out somebody has a date to your party. And, it's not a big deal or anything, but if you must know, Summer asked me.
      Sandy: Summer. Wow. Summer's hot.
Seth: You did not just say that.

    • Sandy: Are we worried your dad won't love us if we don't feed him enough?
Kirsten: Alright, starting now, no more digs at my dad.
Sandy: Oh no, honey, that wasn't a dig. Seth?
Seth: No. When you called him a heartless bastard, that was a dig.
      Sandy: You sold me out.

    • Seth: None of those guys were there when you had to read your poem aloud in class. And your hands were shaking because you were nervous, you cared what the other kids thought.
      Summer: Poem,what poem?
      Seth: I Wish I Was A Mermaid.
Summer: You remember that? That was like sixth grade.
Seth: I wish I was a mermaid and.....was friends with all the fish, a shiny tail an sea shells I..
      (Summer kisses him)
Summer: Oh, I gotta go.There's that investment banker from Woodward & McDunoff. It's OK. I'll introduce myself.
      Seth: The greatest party ever.

    • (to Ryan)
Seth:Who's winning, me or my hair?

    • Seth: (to Ryan) You hooked up with my grandma? Actually that's kinda hot, how was it?

    • Gabrielle: My first time on a plane, I was fifteen. My mother sent me to Japan all by myself to do some modeling. I guess she figured it was easier than her having to get a Job.
      Ryan: I can relate.

(Gabrielle has come to the Crab Shack looking for Ryan. She has just poured vodka from an airline mini bottle into the cranberry juice Ryan served her.)

    • Marissa: If he (Ryan) just said something. I mean, I just wanted him to say anything.
Summer: Well you can't expect him to choose, Coop. He comes from a place where they have knife fights and drag racing and like sex on the hood of a car.
Marissa: That's from The Fast and the Furious.
Summer: Well that movie was based on a true story.
      Marissa: No, it wasn't.

    • Kirsten (about Caleb): Maybe you guys can make peace this weekend.
Sandy: Okay. Oh no, no wait. I can't. I'm still Jewish. Just gettin' it out of my system, I promise.
Kirsten: I wonder what his new girlfriend's like?
Sandy: I am sure she is very well-paid. (Kirsten gives him an angry look) I am on fire!

    • Seth: He has no idea that every day of third grade, you shared your lunch with that little skinny squirrel who kept getting his nuts stolen by that fat squirrel.
Summer: I hated that mean squirrel.

    • Caleb: So you're the kid that burned down my house.

    • Gabrielle: You must think it's weird, me being with an older guy.
Ryan: I live in a poolhouse.

    • Caleb: (to Sandy) You're still smoking the weed, aren't you?
      Seth: Dad, you smoke weed?
      Kirsten: Out! Now! Private conversation!
Seth: (as he walks out) Ryan, dad's a stoner!

    • Seth: They (Luke and Marissa) have been going out since like the 5th grade.
Gabrielle: 5th grade? Okay, she needs to change it up, she's known that guy since he was eating paste.
Seth: I think he still does.
