  • this was a good ep

  • First Anna, now Luke.

The O.C. got a little more political with Caleb marrying Julie Cooper and using Marissa as an emotional crutch to keep his sexual life intact, but hey, it only gets more interesting from here on out. Unfortunately though we had to see the end of Luke who is moving to Portland with no life in New Port anymore. Sucks too because he was finally coming into his own and I thought he could have been a staple in the main cast, but it is what the story calls upon, which is the drama, and the drama it delivered. Other than the teen drama, what really garnered quite some attention is the whole controversy regarding the whole restaurant business. Looks like things from the adult life heating up.moreless
  • Sometimes, when all has gone wrong, something happens that makes you become a better person.

Suddenly the black goes away and everybody’s crying, except for Ryan. Luke decides he wants to go away with his father, and wants to tell some people, but finds it hard to tell people who don’t want to listen. It looks like Ryan is finally ready to get back together with Marissa, and while all this is going on Seth and Summer decided to give Marissa’s room a makeover. Sandy and Jimmy run into a problem when their liquor licence for the restaurant is reneged because of Jimmy’s involvement. Caleb tells Marissa and Ryan that he is planning to propose to Julie, which is news Marissa doesn’t want to hear. Luke desperate to talk to Marissa goes to talk to her at the Lighthouse restaurant’s re-opening party, only to see Caleb propose to Julie. Luke, who is drunk, runs to his car and takes off and gets into a car accident which nearly kills him. Marissa, who is shocked by Luke’s near death lets Luke, who has just awoken and is in the hospital, talk to her. I thought this was a harsh way to get Luke’s message across, but in a way, it was sort of needed. Not that I wanted it to happen in any way, but I don’t think Marissa would have listened any other way.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (5)

    • Goof: While Seth and Summer are reading the old year book in Marissa's room, a box of Marissa's things are in the background. The box is labelled 'Marrissa'. Marissa only has one 'r'.

    • Goof: At the beginning of the episode when Seth wants to watch football after crying during a chick flick, Summer responds by saying football season is five months away. Since football season begins in September, this would make it April. Later in the episode, Seth says something about hockey and Ryan claims it is not hockey season. Hockey season is from October - June (NHL that is). How is it possible that it is neither Hockey or Football season?

    • Goof: How could Seth accidentally walk in on Ryan? The poolhouse is made of windows which were uncovered while Ryan was changing. Also the door was open. Ryan could probably be seen from the house.

    • Goof: When Julie is reacting to the news that Luke is in the hospital, she looks at Seth with shame. The camera angle switches to show Seth and you can see on the edge of the shot that Julie is looking away from Seth, not at him. When the camera switches back to Julie, she is still looking at Seth. That would have to be some awfully fast head twitching on Julie's part.

    • Goof: When Summer shows Marissa the care bear Marissa reacts as though she's had the bear a long time. however the symbol on share bear's tummy is new. The original is a milkshake with two straws. the lollipops appear on the new bears introduced last year.

  • QUOTES (12)

    • Seth: She'll watch over you with her Care Bear Stare.
Ryan: How do you know about the Care Bear Stare?

    • Summer: You're such a dandy, Cohen.
Seth (offended): You're a dandy, woman!

    • Summer: Do you have the stud finder?
Seth: Oh Summer. I think you are the stud finder.
Summer: You see this hammer in my hand?
Seth: Yeah, we'll find the stud finder. What does it look like?
Summer: Don't you know what a level is?
Seth: Yeah, it's something that you advance to in a video game.
Summer: That's funny. The tool doesn't know about tools.

    • Summer: You were in the comic book club?
Seth: Yeah. President and only member.

    • Summer: You cry during chick flicks, you don't want to go to the hardware store. What's next? You walk in on Ryan changing?
Seth: That's... that's a good one, Summer. Very funny.

    • Seth: Yeah, so do you really think a little Feng Shui would make her forget her mom slept with her ex-boyfriend?

    • Summer: How can you live like this? Your t-shirts are touching your sweaters.

    • Marissa: Besides, I'm not the only one crying.
Seth: What? I'm not crying. It's allergies. Besides, there's a lot of pollen in here right now. It's ridiculous.

    • Kirsten: You okay?
Sandy: Yeah, just checking the paper for any impending natural disasters before tomorrow's grand opening.

    • Summer: Was I really mean to you?
Seth (pause): No. That would have required you to speak to me. Or anyone to speak to me.
Summer: A lot's changed in a year, huh?

    • Kirsten: My dad is marrying Julie Cooper. Julie Cooper... is my step-mom.
Sandy: Maybe we'll get you another bottle.
      Jimmy: Yeah, drink up.
Kirsten: This is an unholy alliance. This is two storm fronts colliding. This is the apocalypse for us all.
Sandy: Maybe you wanna lay off the sauce.
Kirsten: I mean, think of it, Jimmy. I mean, all the time we were growing up, I mean, all the time you'd come over for dinner, you'd go sailing with my dad. Did you ever think that he would marry your ex-wife?
Jimmy: Yeah, give me a glass.
      Kirsten: Never.
Sandy: I don't know, Jimbo. The way I see it, this might be the best thing that could happen to you.
Kirsten: No, there is nothing good about what's happened here. I mean, this marriage is an asteroid that has hit the Earth. Now we just have to wait and see what species survives.

    • Julie: I had to block you from my buddy list, you were so incessant.
Luke: You blocked me? I thought you were off line.
