I stopped reviewing The Office on a week to week basis last year, right when Season 8 started. I decided to start watching it again, and here I am, reviewing again, but the show isn't the way it used to be. A lot of people may think that's an obvious observation, but this is the first real time I've had to comment on the show since the first few episodes, and man... it's a bummer.

There are some funny parts, but for the most part, the show is just a pale imitation of what it used to be. In Florida, Robert is going to pass on the Sabre store, which means Dwight stands to lose his job. Despite their rivalry, Jim doesn't want to see Dwight fired, so he fights to convince Dwight not to take the job as Vice President. This was actually the best part of the episode. I sort of like Nellie Bertram as a character (she's just a slightly more irritating version of Michael Scott... you know, without the likeability factor) and the Jim and Dwight dynamic has actually gotten MORE interesting this season.

I sort of liked the Erin scenes too. If there's any character that I've consistently liked this season, it's Erin, which is weird since I used to think her character was way too off the wall for the show. However, The Office seems to revel in being off-the-wall lately, so I've come around.

However, everything back in Scranton was just a bummer. Darryl tries to get Andy to buy girl scout cookies for his daughter, but Toby wants him to buy too. Soon, Darryl and Toby end up fighting for Kevin's pledge, and since Kevin likes to eat, whoever he buys from will likely win. The problem is, Kevin wants them to compete for his donation. It was painful to watch these characters, who have been incredible for seven years, resort to stupid stuff like this.

The episode ends on a semi-cliffhanger, with Andy deciding he loves Erin and running off to Florida. I'm looking forward to seeing where this goes, but only because my expectations are so low right now.

(I apologize for the negativity here too... It's just that I've loved The Office for so long, and watching it go on and on like this, losing sight of what it used to be, is just frustrating.)

Very happy to see Andy's love for Erin -- he drives across the country to convince her and to bring her to Scranton! Hope we'll see them together in the next episode of The Office
