  • Who's going to lead?

I am going to this review a little differently. The Sabre episode that came before this is something I will review later.

When Dunder-Mifflin was near extinction, Sabre, a company based in Florida bought them. You saw her in the previous episode, but Jo Bennett, (played by Kathy Bates) the CEO a view of her. I liked this character right away. I like that Kathy Bates in playing the CEO, Jo Bennett and not herself. I also like that there was no reference that Bates did in her career. Another good thing happened was the end of the co managers. A common theme this season was a storyline that could've been funny but yet again failed to deliver. The back and forth between Michael and Jim on who should be who was not entertaining and thankfully it ended in this episode. I did like Dwight's plan never got off the ground. Dwight and Ryan working together was entertaining. I did enjoy the ending when Jim's prank on Dwight.moreless

An unexpectedly good episode of The Office, I was interested in all the plot lines and I even got some laughs along the way. I have decided that Kathy Bates is the worst addition to the cast and she needs to leave The Office immediately. She's like Season 6's Idris Elba. It just doesn't work.

The interactions between Michael & Jim were really great, and it looks like The Office writers finally answered some fan mail and finally demoted Jim back to sales, he also didn't work as co-manager. Although, still no matter how much things go back to normal, Sabre still brings us a lot of changes.

I'm not usually in to the post-season 3 relationships of The Office, but this plot was pretty good with the Valentine's Day Card. Andy accidentally sending Kelly a passionate card was very interesting. Still not ecstatic about Andy & Erin though. Good entertaining episode.moreless
  • Only one manager

Thank God. I think it was a cop-out how they got rid of Jim as a co-manager, but it needed to be done. It was just a terrible idea and whoever thought of it needs to have their head examined. Jim has been floundering the past few years, and hopefully this demotion will actually get him to show some personality and make him funny again. Stop with the Erin and Andy teasing though. Nobody cares about this! Just get them together and get it over with so we can move on, hopefully move on to something that is actually worth watching.moreless
  • Things are as they should be

When Jim put Dwight's tie in his cup, I was smiling as broadly as Pam. No, actually I was laughing aloud. Serious Jim was seriously a drag. I want my pranks back and I think they're coming.

Oscar winner Kathy Bates can do anything. No genre she can't conquer. I look forward to seeing her tangle with (beat up) Michael. It won't take long. Michael would have been punched in the nose long ago for some of the stuff he says and the things he does. Look at how he insulted Florida and originally said he couldn't abide by the Sabre way of business - just disrespectful and stupid. In other words: Michael.

Now if they could just find some way to bring David Wallace back then we'd really have ourselves a show!moreless
  • Welcome Back

This episode mentions my home town and province in Vancouver British Columbia Canada, and delivers some of the best Jim we've seen this season.

Up till now, Jim hasn't been as fun loving since he has had his promotion. This episode changes that and we see him really come back while battling Michael and Kathy Bates to retain his promotion.

Andy also continues his jesting with his Valentines Day cards, paper cutting Meredith and trying to ask Erin out with a pheromone scented peanuts card!

Dwight and Ryan come together to try to get Jim fired by doing what they did in Saw... haha. Hilarious scene. Great episode.. welcome back to the formula.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (1)

    • When Jim and Jo are in the conference room and Michael interrupts them, he enters and makes Jim's hair a mess. In the next shot, the moment Jo names Jim the new manager, Jim's hair is perfectly combed, like it was never messed up before.

  • QUOTES (6)

    • Michael: I have been saying the word manager a lot, so whenever Jo thinks manager, she thinks of me. Camel cigarettes did the same thing with Joe Camel by making him look like a penis. I can't even go near a cigarette now without thinking of a penis and vice versa.

    • Ryan: Did you see Saw?
Dwight: Of course I see-saw. I see-saw all the time.
Ryan: No, uh, the movie, did you see the movie Saw?
Dwight: Oh, yeah, great film. Almost as much fun as a see-saw.

    • Dwight: The new IT guy, Nick. I think he is the key. He is very trusting, he's looking for friends. He's been given an awesome amount of power and does not know how to wield it.
      Ryan: Like Frodo?
Dwight: Why don't you just let me handle the Tolkien references, okay, dumb jock?

    • Michael: What are you reading?
      Oscar: The Atlantic.
Michael: Oh! That is my favorite ocean!

    • Jo Bennett: Do you always stay seated when a lady enters the room?
Dwight: I am treating you the same as a man, for whom I would also not stand. Unless it was the president or Judge Judy.

    • Andy: I've got some Valentines for my co-workers and my bro-workers.
