The Open Mind is the PBS interview series created by Richard Heffner. The show began in 1956, and is still produced weekly by Richard Heffner, a historian, college professor, and your host for these interviews. Heffner is a University Professor of Communications and Public Policy at Rutgers University, also teaching an honors seminar at NYU. Along with creating shows like The Open Mind, he has authored books like A Documentary History of the United States. His show, The Open Mind, is a place for conversations about history, biography, media, communications, news and public affairs. Join Richard for candid interviews with important voices in politics, law, media, pop culture and more. Over the years, the show has recorded over a half century of intellectuals, through times of hope, disappointment, revolutions and challenges.
