A slightly boring episode which isn't that memorable, Theta was one of the few episodes which used the university-based setting well as we see Marian trying to get back to normality.

In the episode, Marian joins a sorority and finds herself investigating the claims that one of the sorority girls, Jenny, is being haunted by a poltergeist. When one of the sorority girls is attacked in the bathtub and Jenny continues to be stalked, Marian tries to save her. But, the evil turns out to be closer to Jenny than once thought...

It was a good idea to have some adult storylines brought into the show and the discovery that the haunting is being caused by Jenny's abusive past with her father was a shocking plot twist. Director Tom McLoughlin manages to create an eerie sense of dread and the hauntings themselves are extremely creepy, in particular when the words "no hope" are seen drawn across the doors.

Jeannette Brox gives an excellent performance as the haunted Jenny whilst Gabrielle Union (who went on to such things as Bring It On and Night Stalker) is good as the bitchy sorority girl Lindsay.

Though it's not completely perfect, Theta is one of the scariest episodes of The Others with a storyline filled will twists and turns.moreless
