One suspected that some episodes would be updates on the old series. For the most part the new "Outer Limits" provided new directions. "Quality of Mercy" could be vaguely related to the old series "Nightmare." Whether it does or not "QM" is superb. Robert Patrick and Nikki DeBoer shine in their roles as captives of an invading alien race bent on the destruction of humanity. There is a 'twist' to this episode and it's not hard to figure it out, but it still holds up right to the end. Atmospheric and eerie "Quality of Mercy" is representative of the new "Outer Limits." Highly recommended.moreless

Robert Patrick is brilliant in this role...

I never really thought how great of a actor Robert Patrick until I saw this episode. The story line was believable and creepy. You hope for them to escape and wince in pain when he gets injured and she starts becoming one of them. Both characters make you believe there is no hope for humanity and you root for them as if they were your best friend or neighbor. Great episode yet again and I give it a 10 also. Quality of Mercy makes you that there are no real aliens out there like these for fear of them turning you into one of them. I reccomend this episode but a few parts may make you squeamish so don't eat while watching this one. Altogether great dramatic episode.moreless
