This was a great series that brought together the talents of Leslie Grantham (Danny Kane) as the gangland boss and Don Henderson (Frank Kane) as the priestly ‘white sheep’ of the family.
The series combined humour, good music and fast paced, on-location filming with the excellent performance of its actors. It was one of the best series ever made during the 1980s. The supporting actors, especially Peter Gowen (Jonjo O’Brady) as the ‘minder’ and Leon Herbert (Polish Joe) as the Paradise Club manager, were equally strong performers.
Both series were equally good, kept fresh by the change in the focus of the police interest from ‘serious crime’ to the local sergeant.
The Paradise Club was classic entertainment that should be released on DVD.moreless
