Ma Kane dies - who inherits the Paradise Club?

The first episode, setting the scene for the two series. Ma Kane - London gangland boss dies and leaves her criminal empire to younger son Danny and the Paradise Club to elder son Frank, ex Foreign Legion paratrooper and ordained Catholic Priest.

The lives of the two brothers are shown in parallel until Danny rings Frank with news of Ma's death. Danny foils a bank raid by a rival gang led by Peter Noonan and makes them take the money back. This leads to an attempt on Danny's life at Ma's funeral, foiled by Frank and the serious crime squad, who are determined to catch Danny in a crime and lock him up.

Frank is under suspicion of stealing the Church collection to pay his gambling debts so asked to leave his Liverpool seaman's mission. He believes he can help Danny to go straight and although proved innocent he decides to stay when he finds out that Ma has left him the Paradise Clubmoreless
