  • The reason I never liked All in the Family.

The Partners was a series about the comic misadventures of two police detectives--one black and one white. It starred a post-Get Smart Don Adams and Rupert Crosse, a talented actor who died much too young. The show had a lot of funny moments including some hilarious guest shots from TV legends Jack Webb and Bruce Gordon but there was one problem--NBC lined it up against All in the Family on Saturday night at 8:00. Going up against All in the Family was the 1970's equivalent of going up against Seinfeld and Friends. Suicide. The show ran for 13 episodes before NBC pulled the plug then they showed 7 more in the summer of 1972. 'Twas a pity. The Partners should have lasted longer.
