  • The Paul Dixon Show was a live talk show that ran on ABC from 8-8-51 until 9-4-52. It moved to the Dumont network lasting until 4-8-55. It was then aired locally from Cincinnati and viewed in OH, KY, IL & IN until Paul's death on December 28, 1974.moreless

My memories of the Paul Dixon show are only from the last few seasons of the late 1960's until it ended in 1974. It was hilarious. The show was witty, spontaneous, fill of ad-lib risqué' moments. Paul would scan the audience with his binoculars looking for the best pair of legs in the house to award them with a garter. In fact, he became known as the mayor of Kneesville. It was also through the on-set commercials that I first heard of Wendy's Old Fashioned Hamburgers, then only a local restaurant in the Cincinnati area.

Concerning the nationally broadcast years of the Paul Dixon Show (1951 - 1955) several known critics of the day reviewed the series, as quoted from Paul Dixon's book "Paul Baby". It says:

"Val Adams wrote in The New York Times that 'Paul Dixon is a refreshing addition to eastern viewing.' Edmund Leamy said in the New York Telegram that our show (The Paul Dixon Show) 'bubbled over with so much enthusiasm, freshness, and charm that it lifts you out of yourself.' And Sid Chalit in the New York Daily News announced that 'one of the most refreshing platter-pushers is a gent out of Cincinnati tagged Paul Dixon. he has poise, deftness, and a good professional touch.'"moreless
