This was a perfect episode of The Penguins of Madagascar. The plot was my favorite but it not the best episode ever though. I kinda enjoyed this episode. I liked the beginning when the penguins were saying what things they can't trust. The penguins attacking Marlene on purpose was funny. Julien telling "Shut up a little bit" was funny as well. The painting was hilarious especially when Mort appears on it. Julien asking who's Mort in a stupid way made me LOL so hard. King Julien coming in from the bush was funny. Kowalski's comment at the end was very funny. Overall a perfect episode. 10/10moreless
  • This series becomes a part of my favorites with this episode segment! :D When data analysis and careful planning don't help Kowalski, he must learn to rely on his instincts. :idea:moreless

As is the usual case with most cartoon series, I usually don't know where to rank them until I've seen a few episodes. Thankfully, this delightful little cartoon didn't take too long to warm its way into my heart as a funny, friendly favorite for me to view and watch on a daily basis for the different roles the characters play whether it be for laughs, empathy, sympathy, or important moral lessons for people to know. This is a good episode because when animals mysteriously go missing whenever they go into a new reptile habitat, the penguins know that this is exactly the kind of mission that is right up their industrious, spying, sneaking alley! Their quarry however, is fast and furious! They appear to be taking no prisoners, and immediately grab hold of all the main characters, except Kowalski! And Kowalski, is the most ill-equipped penguin to handle a situation like this! Kowalski always likes to analyze, theorize, and contemplate all possible routes of actions before he decides on one. But with no time to spare, Kowalski finds out that his only option is to think outside the box, by actually listening to his gut! Flapping on blind faith, Kowalski keeps his eyes closed, his mouth shut, his ears peeled, and his beak sniffing! Kowalski takes control as only an extreme action penguin can, and begins to fight against the mysterious attackers! Fortunately, while Kowalski is actually winning, he soon finds out that he doesn't need to fight for long against any supposed enemies, since they're actually harmless chameleons! And the only reason they've been snatching creatures who have wandered into their habitat is to invite them to help the chameleons celebrate a "Welcome to the New York City Zoo" Party! 8) Kowalski learns that sometimes, relying on your instincts and listening to your gut is the only way to solve a problem that planned analysis just can't solve. :D This is a good cartoon series so far, and I look forward to watching even more episodes! Enough said, true believers! ;)moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (2)

    • When the camera is zoomed on Kowalski's crotch, he doesn't have much of a visible tail (the stub tail they have).

    • Kowalski says it is physically impossible to 'listen to your gut'. However, this is not true. You can hear your 'gut' rumble when your hungry or have an upset stomach. While it is almost physically impossible to put your ear to your stomach (as he attempted to do), Skipper never told him to do so, just listen to it.

  • QUOTES (10)

    • Marlene: The new neighbors, they took Mort! He's gone!

    • Julien: Ehh, shouldn't my muscle parts be, y'know, bigger, pumped a bit more, yes? (gasps) Maurice, what is that hideousity?!
      Maurice: That's Mort.

    • Skipper: Kowalski, what would you do if we actually WERE under attack!
Marlene: Guys, guys, guess what! (gets attacked by Skipper)

    • Marlene: Urrm, excuse me? What in the world are you guys doing?
Skipper: I might ask you the same question, 'cept for the guy part. What are YOU doing sneaking about?

    • Skipper: What else can't we trust?
      Private: Badgers?
      Skipper: What?
      Private: Maybe that's just me.

    • Skipper: What do you see, Private?
      Private: (blindfolded) Black nothingness, Skipper.
      Skipper: Perfecto!

    • Kowalski: (gasps) Which one do I save? Think Kowalski, think! (gets his notepad)
Skipper: No! Don't think man, ACT! Let's go Rico!
Kowalski: Private's part of the team! Then again Marlene has vital information! Of course Private does owe me five dollars..
      Marlene: KOWALSKI!
      Private: KOWALSKI!
      Kowalski: NOOOOOO!!! CURSE YOU BRAIN!
Skipper: Kowalski! (slaps Kowalski) Snap out of it! We're under attack!
      Kowalski: I KNOOOWW!

    • Kowalski: (Remembering what Skipper, Private and Rico said to him) Right! My gut says to get my friends back! (prepares to fight) Time to listen to that gut! Even though technically a gut can not vocali--I'M DOING IT AGAIN!

    • Private: You can do it mate! Don't think, just use your instincts!
Kowalski: Right! Instincts! En Garde! Wait--which instinct should I use? Survival Instinct.. (Rambles on about other instincts)
      Skipper: (face palms) Private?
Kowalski: Social instinct-- (is knocked over by Private) Should have gone with survival...

    • King Julien: Mort?
      Mort: Yeess?
King Julien: Shut up a little okay?
      Mort: Okay!

  • NOTES (2)

    • Original International Air Dates:
Czech Republic: February 5, 2011 on TV Nova

    • It looks like Private has a little crush on Marlene in this episode. For example, when he attacks her, his flippers are touching her feet. He pulls them away and then smiles at her (looks like a dreamy look) and he has drooped eyes and then shakes his eyebrows up and down at her.
