Our Facebook cause is slooowly getting bigger and we've only been around for a week. I know people are waiting to join until they see others join, which is why it's always so slow in the beginning. Facebook also makes it difficult for us to contact fans directly due to spam filters. But as the news is getting out we have gotten picked up by a few websites and philanthropy related blogs and twitters. We understand the challenge we face is enormous but we figure we've set ourselves up in a way that we really can't lose because no matter what happens we're raising money for a wonderful organization. We are also showing the entertainment community that this show and other shows like it are much appreciated. Just in administering this cause thus far, I've heard some heartfelt stories about how this show has impacted certain fans. If anything, that makes me feel pretty good and I didn't even create the show.

Check us out if you're interested in joining, donating/helping: http://apps.facebook.com/causes/380724/

I also agree - this show should come back -- like some of the others have stated, this show is a refreshing change to the "trash" that is on tv these days. Bring this show back

Our cause is so much bigger now. We have a new website, Facebook Fan Page and a Twitter account. We also just set up partnerships with two non-profits, Bountiful Harvest and GEANCO, that focus their efforts on Nigeria. In fact, GEANCO just held the 2009 African Health Symposium at Caltech with Forest Whitaker as their keynote speaker.

We are looking to network with many more non-profits and for-profits and generate support from as many people as possible. So if any of you are a phans (as we like to spell it) please join us. We mean business so please check us out:

YES Finally something worthwile, I even paid to see them, It would be a pity if this is not continued also there are endless possibilities in doing it even better more plots and etc but the story and the whole concept is totally brilliant.

I really like this show. Not the same old same old, who killed this person who is with this person. I wish it would come back.

HAITI RELIEF: Raising Money for The Restavek Foundation

Save The Philanthropist has started a campaign to raise money for The Restavek Foundation, an organization dedicated to saving young children from child slavery in Haiti. These children will be hit very hard by the earthquake since they are already separated from their biological families. Many of them will be stranded with nowhere to go so The Restavek Foundation, who has also been effected by the quake, needs your help to rebuild and to continue their efforts to seek out and rescue these young lives.

According to their latest update (Saturday, January 16, 2010), The Restavek Foundation urgently needs donations.

"It is hard to get resources into the area, but they (the staff members) can buy things, unfortunately the price of things has doubled now. The more money we get them, the more aggressive they can be in helping those children and families in urgent need! The donation will ultimately dictate HOW we will move forward in the coming days, months years as a foundation. We really need this more than actual supplies at this time."

For more information please visit: http://savethephilanthropist.org/2010/01/16/haiti-relief-raising-money-for-the-restavek-foundation/

Save The Philanthropist does NOT receive any compensation or any percentage of the donations being sent to The Restavek Foundation. Know that 100% of your donation will go directly to The Restavek Foundation.

    Thank you,

    Deborah Brancheau

something i like about this show is that the main character while being a billionaire doesnt just THROW money at every situation. Instead he gets active and hands on. Unbelievable of a billionaire...maybe but shows that while money is great, voluntaring yourself is just as good. Great show, refreshing, and cant believe it got canceled. Bring on the reality shows, yet another doctor show or maybe another cop show...take your pick.

I was wonderign where this show was. Sad it got canceled. When I heard of what happened in Haiti i wondered "what would teddy rist do". (interestingly enough the last episode was to Haiti) Love this show a lot. This sux
