Episode Recap

Docking at a marketplace for supplies, Ren and Niddler learn that not everyone believes in the quest when Ren is mocked by a pair of merchants. Aboard the Wraith, Tula sees a vision of a beast's face after sensing something strange in the air. The Compass acts up, drawing Ren to the sea where Primus arises and tells him to abandon his search for the Thirteen Treasures. Instead Ren is to seek the Bell of the First Sound, located on the island of Banjamaar, which will destroy the Dark Water with one ring. Tula advises against this, having sensed the evil presence earlier, but follows Ren under a ring of floating stones that encircles the island. The people of Banjamaar have large ears and wield staffs like tuning forks, producing magical energy through sound vibration. Their leader, Konjit, doesn't believe Ren is Primus' son, so Ren and crew are thrown into prison. Using Tula's magic to escape, they break into the temple to ring the Bell. Tula tries to warn Ren when she sees the Bell has a beast on it with the same face she saw before, but it's too late, Ren rings it and frees the creature, Kiroptus.

Konjit tells Ren of the Darkdweller, a being who lives in Mer's core and controls the Dark Water. Kiroptus is his servant, and the one who originally scattered the Thirteen Treasures, freeing the Dark Water and sparking Primus' quest to recover them. Kiroptus has tricked Ren into freeing him, and must be made to touch the Bell in order to be recaptured. Konjit takes the Compass from Ren and uses it as bait to lure Kiroptus back, but the winged demon uses an anchor to lift the Bell away and snatch the Compass. Ren knows he'll use it to locate the Treasures back aboard the Wraith, so he gets them first and then tries to return to the Bell. Since he's carrying the Treasures, Kiroptus can track Ren with the Compass, and he is trapped inside a building... or so Kiroptus thinks, until Ren strikes the wall with a sound staff. It's actually the Bell, disguised to look like one of Banjamaar's dome houses, in a trap set up earlier by Ren. The clever plan convinces Konjit that Ren is Primus' son, and he throws a feast, featuring all the food Niddler wanted but couldn't afford back at the marketplace.
