This is the second time in which the Girls have changed size. The first time was in the episode "Nano of the North".
Professor Utonium was painting a picture at one scene. As he was painting the sky, the brush had green paint on it. But when he brushed it on the paper, the brush had no effect on the painting.
In "Roughing it Up," when the Girls are in bed, Bubbles and Buttercup are under the wrong sides of the blanket.
The Professor and the Girls are toasting marshmallows over a bonfire in one scene. Then in the next scene, Fuzzy and his nephews are watching a bug zapper, but when we flashback to the girls, the bonfire's gone.
Narrator: Once again, the day is saved thanks to the Powerpuff Girls! Don't step on me! Don't step on me!
Mojo Jojo: Urgh! Foiled again, but just how did they get small again? My machine doesn't work in reverse.
Professor & Powerpuff Girls: FINE! (Slams door)
Fuzzy & Nephews: FINE! (slams door)
Fuzzy: (opens door) MY PROBERTY! (blows raspberry and slams door)
Blossom: Professor, Mojo used a device to make us giants.
Buttercup: And we can't stop him without destroying the city.
Bubbles: Help us, Professor.
The Narrator: So, once again, the day is saved, with no thanks to the professor.
Professor Utonium: Ahhh, my eye!
The Narrator: Thanks to the Powerpuff Girls!
Mojo Jojo: (To the Powerpuff Girls) Exactly! That's the big idea! My newest plan to destroy the city of Townsville!
Professor Utonium: Remember, this vacation is not about fighting. It's about relaxing!
Professor Utonium: We... came here... to relax. And that's exactly what we're going to do... after we RIP THE LIMBS off this IGNORAMUS!!!
In "Roughing it Up," the day was saved no thanks to the Professer and The Powerpuff Girls.
Villain(s): Mojo Jojo & Fuzzy Lumpkins.
These episodes actually aired in reverse order. "Roughing it Up" is played first, and then it's "What's the Big Idea."
Baby Blues! This is one of the few cartoons which keeps the same design of a character as a child for the whole thing. Professor Utonium is shown as a child in this episode, and looks exactly like he did in the last episode showing him as a child. One cartoon that shows characters as children, but they don't look the same as before is The Fairly OddParents (see "The Secret Origin of Denzel Crocker") and Nintendo has also done this. They intentionally designed Baby Mario differently in the Super Nintendo game, Yoshi's Island. We had seen Baby Mario before in the Super Mario Bros. 3 episode "Toddler Terrors of Time Travel" and he, as well as Luigi and Bowser, looked completely different than they did in the game. The look change wasn't a good idea, because fans to this day still complain about the baby difference.
Second appearance of Fuzzy Lumpkins' nephews.
Mojo used a bike tire pump device when he enlarged the Powerpuff Girls.
Powerpuff Girls: Half-blown Up Balloons
The pumping scene (the one where the Powerpuffs begin to look like half-blown up balloons) is probably a reference to the Namco arcade game, Dig Dug.
"What's the Big Idea": Opening Segment
The scene where Mojo is setting up the miniature Townsville could have been inspired by some of the animated segments from Monty Python.
Powerpuff Girls: Zoinks!
On Scooby-Doo, the Mysteries Inc. shouts "Zoinks!" oftenly.
