AIRED:
Ellenor fights to save Denise Freeman, a rehabilitated death-row prisoner who has devoted her prison time to helping younger inmates. In a last-ditch effort to stay her execution, Ellenor bases an appeal on the medication the court ordered Denise to take at trial, which prevented the jury from observing her schizophrenia. • TRIVIA (1)

      • This episode and the next revolve around Ellenor trying to overturn the death sentence for Denise Freeman, who is on death row in New Hampshire for killing two young children at a playground. In New Hampshire, the death penalty exists only as punishment for capital murder and Ms. Freeman could not have been sentenced to death in New Hampshire for the crime she is said to have committed under their law.

    • QUOTES (0)

    • NOTES (3)

      • This is the first episode to air in the show's new Monday time slot. The move hurt the ratings drastically and caused the show to get a lower budget for the following season, thereby causing the cast shake-up.

      • Alfre Woodard picked up her third Best Guest Actress in a Drama Series Emmy for this two-parter. She had previously won for her apperances on "Hill Street Blues and L.A. Law".

      • Although credited, Kelli Williams (Lindsay Dole) and Lara Flynn Boyle (Helen Gamble) do not appear in this episode.
