  • The fall out from the 'Jimmy the Grunt' TV ad continues as Lindsay distances herself from Jimmy,Ellenor defends a girl with Tourette's Syndrome who has been expelled from school for being too disruptive & another of Bobby's ex-girlfriends re-surfaces.moreless

    9.0
Despite the sleazy ending there is much to like about this episode which allows us to examine not only Tourette's Syndrome but its impact upon the wider community. And if you're not in tears as the Judge, superbly played by Armin Shimerman, gives his verdict then I suggest you check for a pulse!

Lindsay makes some valid points about Jimmy's commercial & the impact it's having upon the firm, but at the end of the day what is Jimmy doing that is anymore untoward than Lindsay taking on cases on behalf of drug dealers? Reasonable doubt for a reasonable fee is what the firm is all about,as Ellenor so eloquently observed in a previous episode.

And what are we to make of Bobby's high school prom date? Or more to the point, what are we to make of the detective's behaviour? It seems nothing is black & white on 'The Practice, only a variety of greys.moreless
  • A fair story that continues highlighting Jimmy the grunt period with the firm.

    7.0
The hallway is still crowded with clients wanting to see Jimmy the Grunt from Jimmy’s TV commercial. A girl that Bobby took to his senior prom is there to see him and a 12-year old girl with Tourette's Syndrome that was kicked out of school is there looking for a lawyer. Rebecca makes a special connection with the girl and steers her to Eleanor to take her case. Bobbys old girl friend is now a call girl who has been arrested and Bobby is shaken to his core with the news. After a lot of legal wrangling the cop that arrested her tells her if she has sex with him he will drop the case. When Bobby learns this he goes ballistic.. Then he gets even more upset when she decides to go ahead and do it. In a riveting scene between Bobby and Sharon his old girl friend it is soon made obvious that Bobby is much a prostitute as she is by the things he does to get off his killer and rapists. Ellenor and Rebecca successfully win their case and the 12 year old girl gets to stay in school but I’m sure that Eleanor when her child is of school age she sends her to private school. Lindsay defends a woman who is suing her doctor for sewing live maggots into her leg to prevent post-surgical infection. The court scenes all full of disgusting descriptions of maggots and is pretty funny. Whets not funny is she won’t let Jimmy come to the court room with her after he asks her to. Lindsay tells Jimmy she doesn’t want to be seen in court with Jimmy the grunt that advertises on TV.moreless

    • We learn that Jimmy needed three attempts to pass the bar in this episode.

    • Rachael Silverwood is not an actress by trade, she actually does have Tourette's Syndrome. She was on an episode of Maury Povich years ago featuring kids with Tourette's. She received a video-taped piece from Lisa Gay Hamilton offering Rachel the chance to appear on The Practice, one of her favorite shows.

  • QUOTES (1)

    • Lindsey: I have a client who could be perceived as um, a little too quick to sue. I'm worried one or more of the jurors may have seen your commercial.
      Jimmy: And?
Lindsey: And, um, with a litigious plaintiff I don't think it helps our cause to be associated with Jimmy The Grunt.
      Jimmy: Go to hell.
      Eugene: Jimmy, she's not wrong.
Jimmy: Well you go to hell, too.
