Episode Summary

JFK: A Presidency Revealed, Pt. 2
President John F. Kennedy's legacy is largely defined by the permanent scar his assassination left on America's psyche; creating a vivid memory that refuses to fade. By looking past our now-mythical recollections, JFK: A Life Revealed, presents the story of a remarkable man whose assassination was merely the final moment of his remarkable life. Using the 35th President's private records, phone logs, medical reports, and secret recordings of meetings with his White House staff, our story will expose Kennedy as a flawed giant who dominated his time though sheer determination. Using previously unreleased images, including Kennedy family home movies and photos from Life Magazine's archive, JFK: A Life Revealed, will trace Kennedy's journey from his privileged roots as the son of a wealthy Irish-American entrepreneur, to his celebrated thousand days as both the first Catholic, and the youngest man ever to be elected President. Focusing on Kennedy's visions of a "New Frontier," the program reviews the successes and failures JFK faced at home and abroad, as well as their lasting effects on America and the world today. Filtered with portions of Robert Kennedy's oral history broadcast here for the first time ever, as well as JFK's secret telephone and cabinet room recordings, this film offers new perspectives on both the public and private life of John F. Kennedy. To assist in capturing the essence of the man and the times in which he led, JFK: A Life Revealed delivers in-depth interviews with a broad spectrum of experts and luminaries, including administration insiders Arthur Schlesinger and Ted Sorensen, foreign officials Egon Bahr and Sergei Khrushchev, historians Robert Dallek, Evan Thomas and Alekandr Fursenko, presidential journalists Sander Vanocur, Hugh Sidey and Ben Bradlee, and JFK's personal friends Paul "Red" Fey and John Seigenthaler. All the momentous events of Kennedy's presidency will be covered, starting with the campaign and televised debates, and includmoreless
