Jarod identifies several stereo-graphs (3D images that you look at and un-focus to see) as a penguin being somewhere near the pyramids in Egypt. Pausing the DVD you note that thay are actually a dinosaur scene and a car.
Jarod Discoveries: Silly Putty, bicycles, paper airplanes, Pez candy, Virgin Marys, & universal remote controls
Jarod's Pretends: Jet pilot & orchestra conductor
Jarod hints that he invented the (modern) stereographic photo, commonly referred to as 'The Magic Eye.'
This is the first episode that guest stars Jake Lloyd, who played the dead pilot's son, and who later went on to play young Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. Jake returned to The Pretender, where he portrayed Timmy/Young Angelo.
(After learning that he can now communicate with Jarod face to face over the computer.)
Sydney: I don't want Miss Parker to find out about this.
Broots: Uh, wait...wait a minute. Uh, you want to play political Parcheesi with the Ice Queen, you go...go right ahead, but I'm not dancing in the minefield. No way.
Sydney: (laughing) You are afraid of losing your job!
Broots: I'm afraid of losing my life.
Lawson: Put yourself in my shoes.
Jarod: I already have.
Bartender: What's your poison?
Jarod: Excuse me?
Bartender: What's your drink?
Jarod: Uh, I was raised on optimized nutritional supplements: hearts of palm, wheatgrass, asparagus mixed with tomato.
Bartender: Virgin Mary, celery garnished.
Jarod: You can stretch it, bounce it, and copy newsprint with it, and it comes in its own plastic egg.
Store Clerk: Yeah. See, the egg is like a symbol of this stuff's birth, you know? Its being. It's not just putty. It's whatever you want it to be.
Jarod: Oh. Well, why would they call something this versatile silly?
Store Clerk: Would you buy something called Versatile Putty?
Jarod: (on flying) This is so cool.
Cameo: James Whitmore, Jr., the episode director, is uncredited as the gentleman who summons Jarod from the dressing room.
Jarod's surname: Jarod Wright.
Allusion to Wilbur and Orville Wright, the inventors of the first airplane.
