Episode Summary

The 58th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards
This year's Emmy nominees were selected under a new set of rules, which were enacted to prevent a predictable glut of fan favorites and hit series and give underrated but deserving contenders a fair chance. But did the change really work? Shows like Gilmore Girls and Veronica Mars were still left off the list, and several nominations were given to shows that are no longer on the air! Another bug surprise was that such TV hits like Lost & Desperate Housewives were not nominated which disappointed fans.

With returning host Conan O'Brien, it's sure to be an exciting evening, no matter what happens, so be sure to tune in!

  • A great job done by Conan O'Brien as host, moving tributes to both Dick Clark and the late Aaron Spelling, great gowns and beautiful people, made this a total viewing pleasure all the way around.moreless

I must say that this year's 58th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards was very well done. Aside from the fact that there was some controversy due to shows and/or people who were shut out, I think this was one of the best that I've seen in a long time. Conan O'Brien was a perfect host and the opening sequence with takes on programs such as Lost, 24, House, and so on, was perfect. The tributes to Dick Clark and Aaron Spelling were also excellent and they brought tears to my eyes. Barry Manilow was the perfect choice to do the tribute to Bandstand/Dick Clark and it was good to see him give his moving speech, as we have not really seen him since his stroke. It was also a nice touch having the original Charlie's Angels (Farrah Fawcett, Kate Jackson, & Jaclyn Smith) present the tribute to the late Aaron Spelling. This reunited the trio for the first time in approximately 30 years. This was also a great year for beautiful, tasteful, gowns and the speeches were good, as well as done so that the show did not run over. There was just the right touch of entertainment, and the time went by at just the right pace. It was a total success overall. It was well worth watching.moreless
