  • Season 1 Episode 2: Episode 2

  • The Grammy award the boys try to sell on but don't succeed in selling is "I Will Always Love You" by Whitney Houston from "The Bodyguard" soundtrack in which David produced in 1993.

  • David fixes one of the things that annoys him in this episode. He hates it when the boys leave all of the lights on. As a solution, he takes all of the lightbulbs out of Brandon and Brody's rooms.

  • Season 1 Episode 1: Episode 1

  • There are five things that annoy David about his life with Brandon and Brody:
    1. The boys' habit of taking David's parking spot.
    2. Leaving the lights on.
    3. "all this crap"
    4. Unknown house guests.
    5. The boys wasting anything, including water.

  • After seeing this episode, Entertainment Weekly's Whitney Pastorek gave it (and the series) a C+, saying, "Princes proves that if you own a big house somewhere in California and tend to yell a lot, someone will put you on TV." She also calls the series "either an interesting/appalling look at yet another set of Hollywood parenting techniques or a fascinating tale of karmic revenge for discovering Josh Groban." In TV Guide's "Hits and Misses" column, television critic Susan Stewart gave this episode a 7 (out of 10), writing, "sheer excess makes Malibu dysfunctional fun," and relating Brandon and Brody to Paris and Nicole of The Simple Life, another Fox series.

  • In one of the early scenes, viewers can see the writing on Brody's and Spencer's T-Shirts. Brody's says, "My Mother Says I'm Special," and Spencer's says, "Fame Is Not Sexually Transmitted."
