Episode Summary

Close Quarters
On leave from CI5 with a hand injury, Bodie takes a day trip with his girlfriend and finds himself face-to-face with the leader of a terrorist group. He captures him but then the rest of the gang arrive and trap Bodie and his girlfriend in a nearby vicarage, leaving him unable to alert his colleagues back at CI5 HQ. With barely any clues as to his whereabouts, Doyle and Cowley go on a chase through the countryside to try and locate Bodie.moreless

    Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

    • TRIVIA (5)

      • Thanks to what is probably an editing error, the vicarage door appears to open twice when Bodie, Julia and Myer are seen trying to get in there.

      • The Red Audi appears to briefly turn into a left-hand drive vehicle during the scene where the gang are chasing after Bodie and Julia!

      • Out on the river, there is blood visible on the bandage Bodie is wearing, but later on this stain seems to disappear!

      • A CI5 radio operative appears to announce that Brodie's car has been found when Doyle and Cowley are on the move trying to find Bodie's hideout.

      • We see Bodie use the bullets from the pistol in order to load the machine gun, but this isn't possible because each weapon would require a different type of round.

    • QUOTES (7)

      • Cowley: You did very well, Bodie.
        Bodie: Thank you, sir.
Cowley: But the damage to the side window of my car - that will have to be deducted, of course.
        Bodie: Of course, sir.
Cowley: From my pay. Doyle, are you grinning?
Doyle: No, it's just a nervous tic, sir.
Cowley: Oh well, as long as it's that... I'll see you both at 8:30.
        Doyle: 8:30, sir?
Cowley: In the Red Lion Bar. I intend getting back the cost of that side window. In pure malt scotch.

      • Bodie: Not so very different, hey? She isn't even on the same planet as you!

      • Julia: Ironic, isn't it? Here we are, waiting to die, because you, Bodie, don't like to lose.
Bodie: I'm doing this to protect you, people like you.
Julia: You live by violence... just like Myer.
Bodie: Yes, well, you fight fire with fire in this job.
Julia: And now we're all going to die violently. You're crazy. Crazy!

      • Bodie: I don't know why. Because I hate his kind. Because I hate to lose. I don't know why...because I say so.
Julia: And what you say goes?
Bodie: So long as I'm holding this gun.

      • Cowley: You've never told me about Bodie. I made you a team, what, two years ago?
Doyle: Two years and three months.
        Cowley: That's long enough.
        Doyle: Long enough for what?
Cowley: For him to get up your nose. Irritate you.
Doyle: Oh, he does that, alright. Every day he does that.
        Cowley: Chalk and cheese, eh?
        Doyle: Yeah.
Cowley: Aye, it's worked well, though.
Doyle: Yeah, I've watched his back, he's watched mine - we're both still alive. At least, this morning we were both still alive.
Cowley: Aye, Bodie gets up my nose, too, and so do you. But I want you both to stay alive.

      • Cowley: Could they travel twenty miles?
Doyle: Thirty the way Bodie drives.

      • Julia: How's the hand?
Bodie: Terrible. But the eyes are having a great time!
        Julia: You're staring!
Bodie: They like faces... particularly pretty faces!
