    Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

    • TRIVIA (1)

      • Egon says there shouldn't be any trains running this late, but while they are on the train, they pass by several stops loaded with people.

    • QUOTES (5)

      • Egon: It's Sumerian.
        Winston: Can you read Sumerian?
Egon: In my sleep. Underwater with the lights off. Of course I can read Sumerian.

      • Peter: (backing away from a pink-haired, skull-faced ghost) Say, now when was the last time you saw your dentist, hm?

      • Winston: Wait a second! If we're inside when the door closes...

Egon: We'll be trapped, yes. With no way home... ever!

Ray: But I just got season tickets to the Mets, and they say this is going to be their best season yet!

Peter: Egon, you kidder! I'll bet you knew about this the whole time and just didn't tell us, am I right?!

Egon: It's our only chance! But I figured if I told you the whole story, you wouldn't want to do it!

Peter: That's a terrible thing to say, Egon! you're right, of course, but it's still a terrible thing to say... Well, if we're gonna go out, let's do it in style! I've got an image to protect!

      • Peter: That was great, really great. Can we do it again?
Doomsday Door: Do not open until Doomsday!
        [Ghostbusters are stunned]
Peter: It was just an idea.

      • Doomsday Door: Do not open until doomsday!

    • NOTES (3)

      • Despite it's late airing, this is the pilot episode of The Real Ghostbusters, and it shows in the higher animation quality and the use of an original song in the soundtrack (something that went away after the 1986 ABC season). Makes you wonder if the writers of Extreme Ghostbusters were referencing this episode when in "Darkness At Noon" everything starts by, once again, the transit authority digging a tunnel in the wrong spot...

      • This is set before "Ghosts 'R Us".

      • There are two versions of this episode -- the one shown on television and the one released on home video. The difference? When the Ghostbusters fight the ghosts on the train, the TV version plays standard series music in the background, where as "The Boogieman" (performed by Tahiti -- from the soundtrack album) is played in the home video version. Also, the home video version doesn't play music during the episode title screen (the TV version does).
