This episode was orginally aired as a prime time special. The popularity of the Real Ghostbusters cartoon allowed that to happen. The episode is very well written and the animation is top notch as usual. There are some interesting things that happen in this episode: At one point in the episode the four Ghostbusters put on a Halloween show for an elementary school. During this show the four Ghostbusters sing a fairly elaborate musical number. This has not happened before in the series this musical also introduces the fact that Egon can play keyboards. The resolution to closing the \"Halloween Door,\" seems to come very quickly. This is still a one of the best in the series. There is also a hilarious moment when Peter and Slimer unveil their Halloween costumes, classic.moreless

    • Crowley is a reference to Alistair Crowley, the famous Satanist.

    • Peter says he's been waiting five years to slime Slimer. This is true, since he was first slimed by Slimer in the first movie in 1984.

    • Brian O'Neal, the voice of Boogaloo, was one of the members of the music group The Bus Boys -- the group who sang the song "Cleanin' Up The Town" from the first Ghostbusters movie (the song is on the soundtrack album).

    • When Dr. Crowley's anti-Halloween machine is making things disappear, watch carefully for three trick-or-treaters standing on a front porch, dressed like ghosts. When their costumes disappear, it reveals only two kids and empty space where the other one was: it was a real ghost!

    • This episode premired in prime time on ABC and featured a special opening and closing sequence.

  • ALLUSIONS (1)

    • In a reference to the first film, when the containment unit ruptures and the Ghostbusters hear it, Ray says, "I've only heard it once before, but that sounds like a containment unit exploding."
