The Rebel was a half-hour western starring Nick Adams as Johnny Yuma, ex-Confederate soldier. Johnny roamed through the west(as the theme song stated), sticking his nose in other people's business and making a pest of himself in general. Personally, I think he was suffering from a form of depression brought on by the South getting their clocks cleaned in the Civil War. The theme song was sung by Johnny Cash, and is a classic.moreless
This show was fabulous! I was only 10 years old when it came on, so I didn't know hardly anything about the Civil War, but I loved the show anyway, and the intro song too!moreless
This show was one of the first of the great westerns of the late 1950's that I fell in love with as a kid. I remember its premier, and I didn't miss a single week's episode, mostly because of the show, but I loved the song as well. It made me a life-long Johnny Cash fan. The acting, while arguably dated by today's standards, was good then, and is still interesting, from the few shows I've been able to see, thanks to TV Land and other cable networks. I'd love to see The Rebel, Wyatt Earp, and Wanted; Dead or Alive back on tv because I don't give 2 cents for the effluvia on prime time today; I'm not a prude by any stretch of the imagination, but if I want obscenities, I'd like to hear them in a war movie, not at 8 Pm in a family sitcom. And by the way, sirs, all caps can indicate enthusiasim too!moreless
