Stimpy writes a poem? That's hard to belive(But I do belive that he scribbled all over the paper). And he one? He must of been the only one to partisapate in the contest. This episode is the first apperance of Ren, Stimpy, Muddy Muddskipper and, Mr. Horse. Log is the best in the world! As you see the first episode and, you see the last epiode, you can see the diffrence, alot. I can't belive Stimpy gave up $36,000,000 for Ren. But that's sacrafice. Muddy Muddskipper says everyones a bum, why? But that's just his charactor. This episode explances why Stimpy is an eediot.moreless

The Ren and Stimpy Show are one of only animated shows that real revamped the true meanings of cartoons. The humor and the style are more inspired by Tex Avery, Bob Clampett and early Hanna/Barbera years. In the first part, Stimpy write a poem to comments Gritty Kitty and win the big bucks and a tour of Hollywood and leave Ren alone. Honnestly, i like the angry Ren expressions, it's clear, realistic and great. Not anything like the dumb shows today like Billy & Mandy than gloomy often in the coarse.

The second part: The Big Shot: Stimpy are ever in Hollywood and Ren wish to forget thim. I enjoy more this part than the first and i loved the Yogi Bear parody chase between Mudskpeer and Stimpy

In conclusion, Stimpy's Big Day/The Big Shot are a perfect pilot for a TV show often controversy, censored and baffled, but acclamed by the real cartoons fans. Peace, John K.moreless

'Stimpy's Big Day/The Big Shot' has a different look to every other R&S episodes. I can't really explain how it looks, you just have to see this episode. A fantastic first episode to possibly the greatest animated TV show there will ever be. I also love all the different segments in this episode, which is another thing that separates this from most other cartoons. This show deserves 10 times the recognition that SpongeBob got.moreless

  • This is an alright episode but it's very good for a pilot.

This episode is very original with the idea of having the dumb character become famous. From the looks at it the two episodes Stimpys Big Day and The Big Shot seem to connect. In this episode Stimpy writes a poem to the Muddy Mudskipper show for hope that he will win the contest and get to become a character on the show. Stimpy does win the contest and joins Muddy Mudskipper and in general becomes a famous star but by doing so he leaves Ren behind and so Stimpy decides to come back home to Ren in exchange of his forty seven million dollar prize for the contest. Stimpy and Ren are very happy back together but when Ren finds out Stimpy got rid of the money for him Ren will never let him live it down.moreless

    ADD TRIVIA
    • Goof: During the scene where Stimpy is watching television, you'll notice him changing places every so often. First, he's sitting on his litter box, then on the floor. Seconds later, he's sitting on his litter box again. Edit
    • Over the first shot of Hollywood, the head that rises up and down from out of nowhere is a caricature of John Kricfalusi's favorite actor, Kirk Douglas. Edit
    • In Stimpy's cereal commercial, if you look closely in a certain scene, his eyes aren't visible, and only his pupils can be seen, which seem to be as large as his eyes. This was an error made by the overseas animation studio, and John K. left it in because it looked very funny. Edit
  • Notes

    ADD NOTES
    • The music heard under the Gritty Kitty commercial sequence (at the supermarket with Stimpy and Mr. Horse) is the underscore 'Stop Gap'. Edit
    • Originally, the microphone was planned to go into Stimpy's mouth during the end of part one - 'Stimpy's Big Day'. However, it seemed to remind Nick executives of a certain sexual method, so the scene was animated with the microphone going into his nose. The mic in the mouth was never animated. Edit
    • The version of this episode on Spike TV does not include the Log commercial. Edit

    • Announcer: And now, a word from our sponsor. The Muddy Mudskipper Show is brought to you by Gritty Kitty Litter.
Friends, do you use Gritty Kitty Litter? Then you know about its absorbency, its fragrance. It's like the smell of fresh bison. It sticks to any surface. It's great as a between-meal snack. And how about that wonderful feeling you get when you squish it between your toes? So remember, folks, if it doesn't say Gritty Kitty, it stinks.
And now, for all you kitties at home, I'd like to announce a contest. We'd like you to write us a poem of 47 million words or less telling us why you love Gritty Kitty Litter. Whoever writes the best poem will win... $47 million... a lifetime supply of goat cheese... a 12-hour record set of the top hits of the 70s... but best of all, a trip to Hollywood and a guest appearance on The Muddy Mudskipper Show! • Ren: Look at you! You're a full grown cat and you're still watching cartoons! Why, you're three years old! Do you know what that is in human years? Edit

    ADD ALLUSIONS
    • Slinky The Log jingle is mostly to the tune of the 'Slinky' jingle, including the part of the log rolling down the stairs. Edit
    • The "lines" Stimpy says in the Muddy Cartoon are references to the cartoon characters George Jetson, Elmer Fudd, Popeye, and a realistic impression of Mr. Jinx. It should be noted that in the 1990s/early 2000s, Billy West would take over the roles of Popeye and Elmer Fudd. Edit
    • Muddy Mudskipper is a parody of old Hanna Barbera cartoon characters. Edit
