  • This is an alright episode because of it's catchy tune of the Yaksmen.

    7.5
Ren and Stimpy are in a log cabin and a wolf is the instructor trying to find three very strong men for his journey. He goes past three huge men and decides to pick Ren and Stimpy after Stimpy acts as if he is so honored to be able to become a Yaksmen which is why the instructor picks him and Stimpy insist on picking Ren too. The instructor picks Ren and Stimpy and the other men are forced to stay with women. Ren and Stimpy then ride their Yaks out into the middle of nowhere trying to look for something. Rens starts to fall due to his lack of food, water, and the terrible weather climates. Stimpy perks Ren up by singing him the national Yaksmen song. By doing so Ren succeeds to lighten up just to find out that they went even father off. But little does Ren and Stimpy know but they are accually located right underneath a crowded road on a very busy highway.moreless
  • A Great finale for the Spümco Legacy

    9.9
This one has to be my all time favorite Ren and Stimpy episode, together with Space Madness and Haunted House, I loved every bit of it: it had great animation, outstanding music and hilarious storylines.

It all begins in a cabin where Stimpy volunteers to go on a dangerous mission to discover the Barren Wastelands of Canada, he wants to give his (and Ren's) life as Royal Canadian Kilted Yaksmen, so the duo have to go on the dangerous missions while the poor other men have to stay "with the women". They have to endure many difficulties and they even get attacked by a marmoset, when Ren can't stand it anymore Stimpy says "Remember the Loyal Anthem of the Kilted Yaksmen" and they both sing the hilarious song, then Stimpy says "C'mon everybody" and all the animals join them for the anthem (these animals include Mudskippers, Crocostimpys and The Sperm Whale from Stimpy's Fan Club)the song ends and they all launch their hats and skirts to the air, together with someone's entrails.

After that they get lost in the desert of Canada where one of their Yaks gets as phsychotic as Ren, but then they find Canada's principal natural resource: dirt, at the end our heroes proudly reclaim that land for the Royal Canadian Kilted Yaksmen, and we see that, many years after that, their skeletons are still there.

All in all a superb episode.moreless
  • The second best R&S episode of all time.

    10
This episode, is everything an episode should be. It has touching and emotional scenes, and also scenes of hysterics and psychosis. If this, along with 'Son of Stimpy' had never been created, The Ren & Stimpy Show would sadly not be my favourite show anymore, but still definitely close to it. It features one of my favourite musical moments ever displayed in a cartoon, 'The Royal Canadian Kilted Yaksmen Anthem'. If only I knew why Nickelodeon just plain sucks so much, then maybe I would give one of their pathetic 'new shows' a chance, but after they ruined my two favourite shows, that will never happen. A truly fantastic episode.moreless
  • Exactly why Ren and Stimpy are classic

    10
In this episode, Ren and Stimpy are sent out to find land for Canada as members of the royal canadian kilted yaksmen. They face many many many hardships along the way, like dangerous terrin, and hysteria. However, they travel on, and reach the land they were sent to claim for Canada... only fo rit to not really matter tons of years later. Man, this was a perfect epsiode from beginning to end. Just stupid, crude, funny moments. But the best part had to be that catchy song. It had hilarious moments/lyrics, and they even said hell bleeped out by a belch. Overall, if you need an intro episode to Ren and Stimpy, this is it. 10/10 A++++++++++++++++++++++++++moreless

    • "The Royal Anthem of the Kilted Yaksmen" is sung by members of the Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles, according to the credits. The song has the tune of "My Country, 'Tis of Thee" / "God Save The Queen").

    • Ren: Wait! We forgot to say grace!
(a light shines on Ren while he says grace)
Ren: Father, we thank you for this heap of dirt thou has bestowed upon us!
      All: Amen!
      (pause)
      Ren: Let's eat!

    • The Royal Canadian Kilted Yaksmen Theme

Stimpy: Remember the royal anthem of the Kilted Yaksmen! (blows into a pitch pipe and begins singing as a lone piano plays in the background)
      Our country reeks of trees,
      Our yaks are really large,
And they smell like rotting beefcarcasses!
And we have to clean up after them,
And our saddle sores are the best,
      We proudly wear women's clothing
and searing sand blows up our skirts!
(now an organ joins in as Ren begins singing)
Both: And the buzzards, they soar oooo-verhead
And poisonous snakes will devooooour us whole
And our bones will bleach in the sun!
      Stimpy: That's it!
Both: And we will probably go to h(fart)ll
And that is our great reward
      For being the uh-Rooooyal...

      Our yaks are really large,
And they smell like rotting beef carcasses!

  • NOTES (3)

    • This is the final episode with animation produced at Spumco. This is also the final episode with John Kricfalusi doing the voice of Ren Hoek.

    • During the anthem, when they're supposed to say the H-word, it is replaced with a farting sound effect. During the karaoke part, you can make out the word in the lyrics, but a fart is still heard in its place.

    • The Kilted Yaksmen Anthem has been made available. It was included on the soundtrack album, Ren & Stimpy: You Eediot!, released in late 1993. The song, along with 'Happy Happy Joy Joy' and 'Ren's Pecs', was also included on the Best of Nicktoons album released in early 1998.
