  • Like Father, Like Son!

A great follow-up to the first episode that further develops Lucas' and Mark's characters, and illustrates the stuff of which they are made. After suffering unjustified indignities at the hands of Oat Jackford's henchmen, Lucas shows himself to be a patient thinking-man, who keeps his head and sets out to obtain justice while neutralizing any threat to his family's well-being. Though Lucas tells Mark to stay in town to await him, the child indignantly voices his objection that at 10 years of age, he is fully capable of camping alone on the burned out property, until his father's expected return in three days; astonishingly, Lucas agrees! Clearly 'The Old West' was not for sissies, and I was fully invested in these characters before this episode ended! Common sense, cool heads, character, and fulfilling a parent's responsibility to teach his child how to analyze and honorably maneuver life's stumbling blocks, are recurrent themes running throughout this series. Highly recommended.
