A story filled with prejudice, some resolution -- all packaged within 25 minutes.
An Indian marhsal, played by Michael Ansara (Barbara Eden's husband), has an Indian in custody for the murder of two people in a farmhouse that was set ablaze. Lucas and Mark meet them on the trail, and Lucas warns him about showing off too much in town.
The marshal is in the bar, drinking with townsfolk who are happy to learn of the arrest and likely hanging. As he leaves town, Mark lets it slip the marshal is an Indian.
The marshal meets up with some Indians south of North Fork, and learns from the chief (Frank DeKova) that it was a white man, and so the marshal (against Lucas' strong protests) returns to town to arrest the man.
Lucas has a strong vocal argument to persaude the townsfolk to let the marshall do his job, and learn an interesting thing about the leader.
A good story, though a little contrived and quick to conclude on a positive note -- but that's '50s TV. A good show. It also features the first of two major supporting actors in Elvis Presley movies. Michael was in "Harum Scarum" and in the next episode, Katy Jurado played Elvis' mother in "Stay Away Joe".moreless

U.S. Marshal Sam Buckhart arrives in North Fork in search of renegade Indians suspected of the brutal killing of a Texas Ranger and his family, but the townspeople are suspicious of him when they discover that he too is an Indian.
