  • This was sad to watch because Johnny Clover (played by Dennis Hopper) was a teenager 17 years old that had been beat by his Uncle every day of his life.

Johnny got drunk because his Uncle verbally and physical abuse him by saying that no kin folk of his was going to be better than he was ever. Johnny demanded to know from Mark exactly how hard Lucas beat him. Johnny was alarmed to discover that Mark said that his Pa never beat him. Johnny almost cried revealing his lifetime of beatings. This episode was so sad but the writing and the moral lesson very valuable.
