This was, by far, the best episode of the series. My usual sarcasm aside, this series really has been terrible and I almost stopped watching. This week was completely worth it, though.

Peaches served as a reminder that Emmet isn't the only person putting their life on the line, that you can't judge a book by its cover and that there really is danger out there. But, unlike prior episodes, it did so keeping the audience and the plot in mind. It was an equal balance of plot progression, characterization, suspense and emotional involvement. The terror aspect the show has promised from the beginning was prominent but didn't overpower the rest. If the River can keep this up, I think it's finally found its unique balance that will keep it afloat.

One thing that finally hit me watching the intro is that the documentation we're watching are just the tapes left behind. This is genius in two ways: one, you know the crew is going to die or vanish or some such because we're looking at their tapes like they were looking at Emmet's tapes. Two, that means there's another group searching, which would allow the series to continue if it's renewed. Brilliant.moreless

Peaches was a superb and very entertaining episode of The River and I enjoyed watching as the Crew encounter an interesting ship and have to deal with them in interesting ways. There was some good character and plot development as Lena discovers both more information about her father and him as well. The story was interesting and suspenseful. I also really liked the cinematography and the acting was great. I look forward to watching the next episode to see what will happen!!!!!!!moreless

    • Emmet: The Boiúna has tested us before. I think this is the last test, right now, to see if we're strong enough. So get strong, Russ, or get out of the way.

    • Jonas: He said everything he was searching for would be there. The Source.
Lincoln: The Source. Did he tell you what it was?
Jonas: Turns out he didn't share all that much while he was watching me get hanged from a tree.

    • Soup: So the blonde-is she your sister?
      Lincoln: Oh, no, no.
      Soup: Girlfriend?
      Lincoln: Huh? Oh, no. No.
      Malosi: Why not?

    • Lena: I'm so scared.

Lena's dialogue, and the camera-just-below-her chin shot from beneath, reference The Blair Witch Project, the 1990 film that set off the current "found footage" genre of movies that ultimately lead to series creator's Oren Peli's movie Paranormal Activity (2007) and its sequels.
