The Common Cause (1939-1944)
FDR prepares a reluctant America to enter World War II; and, after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, helps chart the course toward Allied victory. Eleanor, meanwhile, works to maintain the New Deal reforms during wartime; and travels to the Pacific to comfort wounded soldiers. In 1943, FDR is diagnosed with congestive heart failure, but decides to hide his condition and seek a fourth term.moreless
