After recently screening this episode again, it seemed much better than I originally remembered. From an assassination attempt at a gambling casino to a hike through the French countryside, Simon takes Queen Adana in tow, along with her crown jewels, and engages in a running battle with counter-revolutionaries intent on doing in the queen and her husband. This is what makes episodes of The Saint so appealing: its movement from high society to finding sanctuary with the peasantry. And Simon is at home at each stop. The Saint deals out a level of social equality and moral justice you would only find with, well, a "saint".
Towards the end of this episode, there is a real treat. Watch for the Miss Marple lookalike who turns out to be one big surprise for everybody--except Simon.moreless
