The Salon

Show Summary

Welcome to The Salon guide at TV.Com. The Salon is a reality show with a difference as members of the public can ring the show and book an appointment to either get a haircut or receive a beauty treatment. Series One of the Salon was filmed in Balham, South London. The show featured a mix of the general public and celebrities as clients. Series Two of the Salon was filmed in the more upmarket Piccadilly area of London. Paul Merritt was the manager of the Salon on both series. Also returning from the original series were Sarah and Hayley (the twins) as beauty therapists. After fourteen weeks the second series was extended and members of the original series were given the chance to return to the show to form the Salon dream team. The public voted for who they wanted to form this new team. The show was a great success for Channel 4 and viewers could watch live coverage all day on the channel's digital channel E4. There was also an omnibus shown at the end of the week featuring full highlights of the week's action.moreless

The first series of the Salon was set in Balham, South London and Paul was the manager. Members of the public could phone up book a haircut or beauty treatment or just relax in the spa area. Celebrities would also visit the Salon and mingle with the public. Each week Paul would name an employee of the week and they would win a prize. After 8 weeks the series was extended but not all of the staff had thier contracts renewed. At the end of the first series Sabrina was named as employee of the series. The second series was set in the more exclusive area of Piccadilly in London and Paul returned as manager. The only other staff to return from series one were Hayley and Sarah (the twins). After 4 weeks several staff members were let get go from thier jobs and John from series one returned. After 14 weeks the second series was extended but the staff were in for a shock when Paul announced that all the staff from series one had been asked back to face the second series staff in a public vote to form the Salon dream team. Suzanne, Des and Vass were voted in from series one whilst Georgina, Justin and Natasha from series two lost thier jobs. At the end of the second series Jorge was voted employee of the series. Celebrities to visit the Salon included Michael Barrymore, Sonia, Jade Goody, Mark Lester and Julie Goodyear.moreless
