The Scarlet Pimpernel (1954) is a retelling of the early twentieth
century play. It takes place during the Reign of Terror, when French
society is in the throes of revolution. Many aristocrats have been
executed. One hero steps forward, known only by the small letter he uses
as a signature, The Scarlet Pimpernel (Marius Goring George). He seeks
to form a band of masked heroes who will bring peace.
